Was grinding some surface rust in the rear footwell of the $35 E12 then some POR15. Can’t tell if the rust was from mouse piss or the sunroof being partly open while in po-po impound.
Nice to have it warm again for some quality time in the garage.

I find a respirator way more comfortable than an

cheap dust mask (mostly because it doesn’t fog up my glasses)
and have blown enough black crap out of my nose that I do wear one when making dust most of the time.

Rust dust boogers the next day always makes me wonder how much insoluble shit is in my lungs after 20+ years of this hobby.

Even bending that little metal strip on the cheap dust mask doesn’t do much to help it seal. I’m with you, an actual respirator is much better. I especially like 3M’s half-face ones with the silicone faceseal.

Yeah the paper masks don’t seem to do a whole lot. I have a 3M respirator much like the one pictured above with some P100 (formerly organic vapor but that’s long been used up) cartridges. I’ll be getting some new ones when I get around to painting the Chevelle.

I like the 3m full face for working in the cold or reducing fogging issues. What filters do you use? The 2291 are good for general use. as they last longer and flow nicely. I use the cheaper 2091 for things where I know I want to toss the filter after one or two uses. Both are P100 so breathing requires a little extra effort after a while. Neither of the above handles vapors, just particulate .
